Myshire Farm Hatching Guide

Thank you for choosing Myshire Farm for your coturnix hatching eggs!
We have compiled a few tips to help you incubate your eggs and look after your newly hatched babies! Here is our recommendations.

Now that your eggs have arrived we suggest you unpack the eggs and place them pointy side down for 12-24 hours to “let them settle”.
Now verify the temperature and humidity of your incubator. The temperature should be 99.5 degrees plus or minus .5 degrees. Your humidity should be between 40%-50%. We HIGHLY recommend that you have one extra temp and humidity gauge to ensure your incubator is reading correctly.
Setting your eggs. Don’t worry this is an easy part…place them in your incubator pointy side down. Side notes. If you are using trays made for chickens add a small piece of paper towel to each hole to keep them in place. Also if you are hand turning you want to hand turn a minimum of 3 times a day.
NOW THIS IS THE HARD PART!!!!!!! Wait….. Day 1 is the day you place them into the incubator. From day 1 to day 14 is the incubation period. Ensure they are being turned 3 times a day minimum. Temp should be at 99.5 degrees and humidity should be 40%-45%. Do your best to not open the incubator.
Its DAY 15 which means….. ITS TIME!!! Take your eggs out of the turner and lay them down with a little space in-between each one. THE BIG PART…. Increase your humidity to 65%-70%.
Within the next 3 days you will start seeing some “wiggling”!!! Once they hatch we suggest to let them dry for 24 hours before placing in brooder. I know it is tempting but let them dry and don’t open the incubator.
LAST STEP!!!!!! Put them in the brooder and HAVE FUN!!!!!

YOU ARE A QUAIL PARENT…. CONGRATS!!!!!

Now because your new coturnix babies are so TINY they will need special care….
We have a TON of videos on our YouTube channel @ Myshire Farm. We have a special video called the top 5 reasons for chick fatality…. We HIGHLY recommend watching this before your new babies hatch! The 3 most important things for your babies is water, feed and temp. Don’t over think it. KEEP IT SIMPLE!
