How to choose an incubator
When we were making our Quail 101 class, we asked our friend Jasmine what she looks for in an incubator for someone who is new to hatching. She recommends getting an incubator that:
- is easy to clean
- has a digital thermostat
- has a built-in fan (forced air incubator)
- has an automatic egg turner
- has a 360° view of eggs and chicks
No matter what you decide to purchase, we HIGHLY recommend reading the reviews before you buy so you can see what other people have experienced.
We also recommend looking at the incubator specs or user manual. Why? Some incubators aren't built to work in low temperatures. We didn't know this and we bought an incubator to use in our shed. It didn't work! We couldn't figure out why until we read the manual.
