Hatching Resources
If you are raising quail for self-sufficiency, hatching your own quail makes sense economically. Rather than buying hatching eggs to keep your covey going, you can just gather fertile eggs from your own backyard! Here at Myshire, we are continually improving and refining our hatching practices. Here are our most up-to-date recommendations for optimal temperature and humidity settings:Â
WET Hatch
With this method, you will humidify (add water to your incubator) during the entire incubation period. This method works well in dry climates or seasons.
Temperature: 99.5° F (safe +/- 0.5°) 37.5° C
Humidity
Day 1-14:Â 35-45%
Day 15+:Â Â 70-75%
DRY Hatch
With this method, you’ll humidify only at the end of incubation. Many quail raisers find that using this method in humid climates/seasons and high-altitude areas helps to increase their hatch rates.Â
Temperature: 100.5° F (safe – 0.5°) 38° C
Humidity
Day 1-14:Â ambient
Day 15+:Â Â 65-75%
